What do you get when you cross a Corvette ZR1 with an Italian designer? 9 outta 10 times, you'd get a supercar. This is the outcome of Stile Bertone's creation; a wind-tunnel honed and ultrasleek bodywork with the ZR1 mechanics under the skin named Mantide (initially codenamed Project M). It showcased at the Shanghai Auto Show 2009, the car is packed with a 638hp 6L v8 engine from the ZR1 and due to the bodyworks, it is 220 pounds lighter than the engine's original body, resulting in a monster that goes from 0-60mph (100kmph) under 3.2 seconds up to a top speed of 217mph (350kmph), thats faster than a Lamborghini Gallardo! *Original ZR1 goes from 0-60 mph in 3.4 secs with a top speed of 206 mph.
Micheal Bay should consider including the Mantide in the next Transformers sequel haha
Backside (close-up)
As a sucker for concept car designs, the Mantide stole my heart at first sight. Also, i noticed that its headlights bear a bit of resemblance to the Citroën C-Métisse, also an all-time classic concept favourite.
