Guilty Pleasure

Firstly i wanna credit JG for coming up with the original guide on this how to.
But i noticed that a lot of people including myself had a really hard time following his guide.
You can check it out here
So i decided to make one myself based on his with hopefully clearer instructions. :D
Note: The screenshots in my guide are from his, too lazy to make my own -___-"
Noob-proof guaranteed xD

Some obvious requirements: *__*

• PSP with custom firmware 5.00 m33-6 or later (i have not tried with earlier firmwares, not sure if they'd work or not...)
  
• Monster Hunter 2nd G (with an existing save file)
  
• Monster Hunter Unite US and/or EU
  
• Memory Stick Duo (this has to be a Sony brand or it wont work!!)
  
• PC
• USB Cable
• I was just kidding bout the memory stick part lol
• and 'some software' for this conversion process, click here to download em'
  

Step 1:

• Connect your PSP to your PC
• Download the 'some software'
• Unrar/unzip it
• It should be a folder named '2G to Unite Conversion'
• Open it up, then open up the MemStick folder inside
• Copy the FREECHEAT and seplugins folder into your PSP's main root folder, eg. F:\ (assuming your PSP/MS is drive F)
• IMPORTANT: if your PSP already has an seplugins folder, please cut and paste it into you PC for the time being of this conversion, then replace it with the downloaded one, it is to avoid plugin conflicts and PSP crash and hangs.
• Shutdown your PSP
• Then go into recovery mode by holding 'R' while turning it back on
• Enable the plugins and exit

Step 2:

• Start up MH2nd G

• Select the character you wanna convert into Unite

Step 2.5:

• Once loaded, press the music/note button on the PSP (the one between the 'brightness' and 'select' button) to bring up the FREECHEAT menu
  
• Something similar to below will show up
  

• Then select 'MEM Manager'

• Then select 'Dume Memory', yes DUME MEMORY!!! DUME IT! xD
• and then click Start Dump
• Wait for the dumping to complete, a message will pop up
• Once done, go back 'HOME' (exit the game)

Step 3:

• Start up MH Unite
• Create a new character with a unique name (this will later be important and make your task easier, eg. name = SuperDuperPope, i just assume you gave it this name :P
  
• The look and everything else are not important
• Save the character and repeat Step 2.5.

Step 4:

• 
  
• Open up the downloaded file earlier and open up MHP2GME.exe in the MHP2ME051 folder.
• Now learn Chinese
• Click the button with an (F) as shown below
• Then select the first choice, which mean 'SNAFU' in Chinese
  

• Navigate to your the FREECHEAT folder in your PSP
• Open up the dump folder, there should be 2 files: mem000.mem (2nd G) and mem001.mem (SuperDuperPope on Unite)
  
• Load up mem000.mem then click the button with the (F) again
  
• Click the second choice and then then the second choice again with 'FC' in the word
• Navigate to your desktop and give it any name then
  
• The saved file will magically appear on the desktop but the PC didnt like the name you gave and decided to change it into ULJM-05500.pat instead...
  

• Repeat Step 4 with the mem001.mem file and save it in a different location eg. C:\

Step 5:

• Go back to the downloaded folder again
• Open up Hex_Workshop_5.0.0.2511 folder and install the 'hw32v500.exe' inside
• Once installed, open up the Hex Workshop program
• Drag and drop the ULJM-05500.pat file from your desktop to the program, by right this should be the 2nd G Save file
• To confirm this is, the first line on the second column looks something like this with your character's name, the one shown below is JG's

• Highlight everthing from the beginning up till just before your character's name just like the screenshot above.
• Then right-click and delete it
• Also, if you wanna change your character's name, you can do it here, just make sure you follow the exact format
• After that, select everything (Ctrl+a), and copy (Ctrl+c)
• Now drag the other ULJM-05500.pat file from your C drive into the Hex Workshop
• Now search on the second column for the character's name, like if you named it SuperDuperPope, look for this word
• By right, it should be on the line 000042CC (the far left indication), if not, look for it!
• Then highlight from the beginning of the name up to the end at the bottom and delete
• Paste what you copied from the other file earlier at the bottom end
• The pasted text will appear in red
• Now click 'save as...' from File and save it as 'xy.pat' to your desktop
• Then cut the xy.pat file and paste it into your memorystick in the F:/FREECHEAT/patch folder directory

Step 6:

• Just bear with me, the conversion is almost complete
• Start up your MH Unite
• Load up the SuperDuperPope
• Then press the music note button to bring up the FREECHEAT menu
• Select 'Mem Manager'
• Select 'Load MEM Patch'
• Select 'xy.pat'
• and if all it done as instructed, the conversion is almost complete

Final Step:

• Now all you have to do is get your character's appearance back
• Just change a piece of equipment and voila!
• Note: The FREECHEAT and seplugins folder can now safely be deleted, you can now place your original seplugins you kept in your PC as instructed if you had any to begin with
  

There are some bugs but nothing i find should be in need of worrying
Though you can check 'em out at JG's guide (its on the bottom)
